Aches and pains

Coming back to running has been a bit harder than I had imagined. After 2 months away from running, my fitness had really declined. I have soreness all over and every day there is a new part of the body hurting. A few days ago were my quads, then my calves, feet and since this morning my right hamstring. I do not think these are serious aches, just natural soreness from running.

I am more worried about any pain to my left knee. It had been going mostly pain free, but I did feel a pinch during my 4 mile run yesterday and was feeling the knee yesterday evening. That got me worried, but I woke up this morning without pain and has been fine even after my evening run. Hopefully is was one off and it will not return.

Running this week has been OK. I hope to run a 20 miler week and slowly increase milage, especially long runs. I signed up for a half marathon on January 25. I will use it more as a long run than anything. At this point even running 4 miles is a struggle. I am not sure how I will be in 2 weeks time, so I will set up modest goals.

I am still thinking about running the St. Louis Marathon on April 19. I will see how this month's training goes and see if I feel prepared.

Glad to hear that the recovery is still going well. I'll have to take advantage of your injury to beat you in the Half Marathon for once... You being injured is the only way I'll ever be able to. :-)
