Running injured

Dear reader(I know there is one or two out there!), sorry for not having written in a while. I must confess that I have been purposely avoiding writing.

The right knee (the "good" one) has been bothering me for over a week now. It is mild bout of runner's knee -- again! I strangely started feeling it during one of my swims and thought I had just knocked over something and was not thinking much about it. But, it really started bothering me a lot after the 2 runs last weekend. I knew that something was wrong.

It was really frustrating to discover this new injury. So I have taken the week step by step. I have been doing a lot of stretching and doing exercises to strengthen the knee. Also have been taking anti-inflammatory medication as well as arnica whenever I feel the need. I did not do any speed work or hill work that was scheduled for the week. I just wanted to run easy runs to see how my knee would behave.

The real test, however, came in yesterday during my 22-Mile long run. It was not the best run ever as I definitely felt the knee. But I finished it without any major problems. I will continue with the exercises and will decide whether I will do the 13-Mile tempo run scheduled for Wednesday.

Make sure to take your Glucosamine Chondroitin! And good luck with the knee(s). Hopefully it's just general pain and not something more serious.
