Colon Cancer 15K

I toyed about not running this one since I had not been feeling that well the past few days. But I just dragged myself out of the house and was at the staring line at 10.15am. The corrals were crowded and placed myself way at the back of mine. I was not going to try to push the first few files to see how I would be feeling.

To back track a little bit, both my knees have been bothering the past couple of weeks which is not a big deal so far, though I feel discomfort every once in a while while running. Also since Friday, I have had a slight fever and my throat sore. And to add to all this I ran a 16 miler yesterday morning, so my legs are really tired. Obviously these are not the ideal conditions for racing. My goal was to try run it under 1:05 which would be a bit slower than the time the 10-Mile race I ran a month ago.

The knees proved to be a moot point. At no time I felt that they were bothering me, so this is good news. I ran the first few files cautiously (around 7 minute miles), but I hit a stride from them on and ran consistently in the 6:30s. But I felt that I could not push it further, the flu or whatever bug that I have was preventing me from running faster. Also yesterday's long run started taking its toll at the end, especially the last two mile. Usually I have a kick at the end of races, but today the kick was not as strong.

Well, at the end I ran it in 1:02.02 (6.39 pace). I still have the goal of running a 15K in less than an hour. But I am glad with the time given where my training is at this point and how I have been feeling physically.

That's still a great time! And you hit your 1:05 goal. Good work!
