Before the marathon last Sunday I had vowed I would take a whole week free of any physical activity. I cancelled my regular, weekly session with my Personal Trainer and was thinking I would only resume running next Tuesday. But I got the itch this morning and went for a short 3 miler here in Pennsylvania.
I usually take longer breaks after I complete a marathon. When I finished NYC in 06 it took more than a month to get back to running and even then it took me probably 6 months to really fell like running, not only a chore I had to do 4-5 times a week. After St. Louis in April I planned a vacation right after the race and it was 3 weeks after I put on running shoes again.
This time around I guess because I have no scheduled vacation and/or the fact that I exceed my expectations, I found myself motivated to run again. I am really eager to keep the running shape I am and maybe even improve. I even have a 10k already scheduled for next weekend.
The run itself was rougher than I had expected. It was easy run, but still feeling the after effects of the race, especially on my calves.

Glad to hear that you're back out and running. Although, after running a sub-2:52, you've definitely earned as much of a rest as you want...
