Running camp in North Carolina

On Sunday I arrived in Blowing Rock in North Carolina for a week long adult running camp.

I chose to come to Zap Fitness Camp because I had heard great things about it online and also because I had never been this part of the country. We are in the middle of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the views are simply amazing. We have been doing lots of hill work which is something I had not done much and which I was craving in doing.

We are runners of different skills sets and all have different goals coming in. It is a nice mix. And the runs and talks are quite informative and instructive. It is also neat that we are able to interact with the resident pro athletes who can give us insights in the elite level.

I want to come out of here motivated and ready to believe that I can improve and break that 3 hour mark in the marathon.

Yesterday night we had an amazing presentation by Dick Beardsley. He is known for the Duel in Sun with Alberto Salazar in the 82 Boston Marathon. He talked about his unorthodox beginning as a runner but also about his post-runner life full of accidents and drug addiction. But throughout he never ceased to believe in himself and he wanted to let us know that we should not either.
