Struggling with fitness

It has been quite slow running week. It is frigid in NYC this week and had to do all my run (including the 8 miler this morning) on treadmill.

What is more frustrating, however, is the fact that my running fitness is nowhere near what it was 2 months ago when I was getting ready for Philly. Despite swimming these 6-7 weeks of not running simply obliterated the fitness level that I acquired after a whole year of training.

In October, I would easily finish a 4 miler in under 28 minutes. This week, on the other hand, I have struggled to finish the 4 milers under 30 min. I know that I have been running better than the previous week and that's encouraging. But I am still so impatient and eager to attain the previous level of fitness. I remember that when I got injured in 2005, it took me around 6 months to feel that I was running at the same lever of my pre-injury. I hope this time around it will not take as long.

Besides running, swimming has been going well. I have been swimming now twice a week and around 1km at a time. I will try to increase swimming distance to around 1 mile eventually. Finally, I am back to practicing yoga with TaraMarie after after 3 months. I will try to include a yoga practice once a week.

You'll be back to 100% in no time, I'm sure. And, the difference between a 28 muinute 4 miles and 30 minutes is only 30 seconds per mile... After having to take so much time off, that's not much of a loss at all.
