Saturday

Saturday is when I usually I do my long run. But since I am unable to run, I have been doing other things on Saturday mornings.

Yesterday we went wine tasting in a winery in Monroe, an hour away from NYC. Apparently Brotherhood Winery is the oldest functioning winery in the United States. Even during Prohibition (1917-31) it was operating by producing sacramental wine.

The place is small. The wines, though, not great, were surprisingly good. From the wines that we tasted, I liked the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. But I was most interested in and intrigued by their wine named Mariage, which is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.

Afterwards it was a nice sleepy ride back to New York. It is nice to leave town every once in awhile. It gives you perspective and makes you appreciate coming back.

That sounds like fun! I was a little lost without a long run this weekend too... I took yesterday off so I'd be rested for today's 10K. I definitely don't miss the 20+ milers, but the "short long runs" were nice. :-)
